process, as the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is committed to
keeping you informed with up-to-date information on the 159th Street Roadway
Reconstruction Project in Harvey, IL.
Project Overview
IDOT will reconstruct the 159th St. roadway between the Tristate Tollway
(I-294) and Halsted St. (IL Rt. 1) in Harvey, IL. The 2.18 miles of old pavement
will be replaced with new concrete pavement. The completed project will provide
two lanes of traffic in each direction, medians and dual left turn lanes at
select intersections. Improved traffic flow will also be aided by interconnected
traffic signals, improved lighting and new drainage. Improvements, such as five
full Traffic Signal Corners, will also be made on Dixie Hwy, Wood St, Carse
Avenue, and Halsted St. intersecting with 159th St.
This project will be constructed under traffic with at least one lane of
traffic remaining open in each direction at all times. Drivers should expect
delays through the work zone during construction. This project will be completed
in conjunction with viaduct reconstruction between Halsted St. (IL Rt. 1) and
Park Ave. Click here for 159th Street Viaduct Reconstruction website.
