This website has been created to facilitate public input and provide facts
about the Illinois Route 47 Study, process, and schedule. The study area is
comprised of approximately 4.2 miles extending from Illinois Route 71 on the
north to Caton Farm Road on the south, located within unincorporated Kendall
County and the United City of Yorkville. We invite you to explore the website
and provide your comments and recommendations regarding the study through our

IDOT Holds Second Public Information Meeting
On March 14, 2013, IDOT held the second public information meeting for the
Illinois Route 47 Study. The meeting was held in Yorkville at the Meadowhawk
Lodge located in the Hoover Forest Preserve. The purpose of the meeting was to:
present project information regarding the proposed reconstruction of IL 47,
present possible project impacts, provide land acquisition and relocation
assistance information, answer project questions, and solicit public feedback on
the project. The meeting was an open house format conducted between 4:00 pm and
7 pm, and the 33 attendees had the opportunity to review exhibits, provide
comments and meet with IDOT and study team representatives on a one-on-one
basis. A total of three (3) written comments were received during the meeting,
and the comment period extends through March 29, 2013 for the public meeting
record.

Second Local Officials Meeting
On August 16, 2012, IDOT held the second meeting with local officials for the
Illinois Route 47 Study. The meeting was held at the United City of Yorkville’s
City Hall, and was attended by Yorkville officials and study team members. The
purpose of the meeting was to provide a project update and to present and
explain the conceptual preferred alternative to the local officials for review
and comment. Additional topics discussed included: CMAP 2040 traffic
projections, additional IDOT projects in the Yorkville area, traffic signals,
the location of sidewalks and/or shared use paths, street lighting along the
corridor, property access, and future development plans.
Second Project Study Group (PSG) Meeting – June 14, 2012
Second Community Advisory Group (CAG) Meeting
IDOT conducted the second Community Advisory Group Meeting to continue the
Illinois Route 47 Study. The meeting was held on May 7, 2012 at the Yorkville
Public Library. The purpose of the meeting was to: present a project overview
and update; review the Community Context Audit responses; discuss the proposed
Problem Statement and Purpose & Need; and solicit input on proposed project
alternatives.

First Project Study Group (PSG) Meeting – October 26, 2011
First Community Advisory Group (CAG) Meeting
The first Community Advisory Group (CAG) Meeting for the Illinois Route 47 Study was held by IDOT on August 25, 2011 at the Yorkville Public Library. The purpose of the meeting was to: provide a project overview and schedule, explain the Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) process, identify preliminary issues and concerns, and outline the next project steps.

First Public Information Meeting to Kick-Off Project
On February 17, 2011, IDOT hosted the first public information meeting to kick
off the Illinois Route 47 Study at the Yorkville Public Library. The purpose of
the meeting was to: gather information about transportation issues and concerns
in the study area from members of the community and users of the roadway;
recruit Community Advisory Group (CAG) members, who will provide input on
various project elements, needs and alternatives; identify possible improvements
and solutions that may become part of project alternatives; and, locate
important resources or features that should be considered as the study
continues. The meeting was an open house format, and the 37 attendees had the
opportunity to review exhibits, provide comments and meet with IDOT and study
team representatives on a one-on-one basis. A total of six (6) comments were
received during the comment period, indicating general support for the project,
with questions regarding property access, traffic flow and drainage.
Additionally, four (4) individuals indicated an interest in serving on the
Community Advisory Group.

First Local Officials Meeting
The first Local Officials Meeting was held on August 3, 2010 at the United City
of Yorkville’s City Hall. The meeting was attended by Yorkville and Kendall
County officials, and the project study team. The purpose of the meeting was to
present an overview of the Phase I study background and process, the proposed
scope of work, and project issues. Local officials were given the opportunity to
offer additional thoughts and comments. The following topics were discussed in
more detail: potential new high school development; bike path/pedestrian
connections; utilities; CSS/public involvement efforts; ComEd/Railroad Agreement
regarding right-of-way usage; roadways under the jurisdiction of Kendall County;
traffic signals; anticipated cross-section designs; and, funding.
It is anticipated that two additional Local Officials Meetings will take
place over the course of the Illinois 47 Study.
Project Initiated
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has initiated the Illinois 47
Study. This study will examine transportation needs of and solutions for this
corridor through an extensive public involvement process as part of the
Department’s Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) policy. The study area is
comprised of approximately 4.2 miles extending from Illinois Route 71 on the
north to Caton Farm Road on the south, located within unincorporated Kendall
County and the United City of Yorkville.
