Public Involvement

Our first public meeting was held at the Maywood Evangelical Free Church at 3621 Samuelson Road, Rockford, IL on October 15, 2009. A total of 45 persons attended the meeting which was held in open house format with representatives from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the consulting firm of McDonough Associates Inc. on hand to answer questions and discuss the project.

On display were aerial photos of the project area and displays showing existing and projected traffic; accident history; alternatives for widening the interstate; and conceptual interchange alternatives for the IL 251 and Alpine Road interchanges. These displays are now available on the Project Exhibits page.

The attached announcement appeared in the Rockford Register Star on September 30 and October 9, 2009, and was sent to various individuals on our current project mailing list. 

The next public meeting is tentatively planned for the 4th quarter of 2010. The meeting will be announced on this website and via local newspaper when the date, time, and location are confirmed.
