GET INVOLVED

Throughout the study process, there will be a number of ways to participate. You may follow the progress of the project by attending meetings, checking the website, and receiving newsletters. Public meetings will be held at study milestones to gather public input and share project information. Study newsletters will be sent to those that wish to be added to the study’s mailing list by filling out the form to the right.

Public Hearings
A Public Hearing is prepared to provide the public with formal information of a proposed action. A Public Hearing for the I-55 at Weber Road Study was held on Wednesday November 13, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M at the Romeoville Village Hall in Romeoville, IL. During the meeting attendees were encouraged to provide written comments, in addition to verbal or written testimony to a court reporter that will be included as part of the public record. Written public comments can be submitted through this website via email at I55atWeberRd@clark-dietz.com or mailed to IDOT using a comment form. To download the comment form click here. The comment period for the hearing will close December 3, 2013. Presentation and exhibits used during the meeting are available for download on the Study Documents page.

Public Meetings
A number of Public Meetings are planned throughout the study and will offer opportunities for interested parties to provide input into community context, transportation issues, the project problem statement, and the development of possible solutions. The location and time of the public meetings will be advertised on this website as well as in local newspapers to invite all community members to attend. Throughout the study, this website and other multimedia and interactive opportunities to provide input and receive information will be made available.

Community Advisory Groups
A Community Advisory Group (CAG) was formed to assist the IDOT Project Study Group (PSG) with defining the study’s context, determining the study’s Purpose and Need and developing alternatives. The CAG consists of community leaders authorized to speak for their organization and stakeholders with expertise or interest in transportation, land use, the environment, or economic development in the study area. Members of the CAG provide input on the study, attend CAG meetings, and collaborate with the PSG.

Stakeholder Involvement Plan
Because Stakeholder involvement is critical to the success of this project, a Stakeholder Involvement Plan (SIP) was developed to provide a guide for implementing a meaningful public involvement plan for the study and a framework for engaging stakeholders.

The Stakeholder Involvement Plan (SIP) includes:

  • A detailed inventory of stakeholders
  • The roles and responsibilities of participants in the public involvement process
  • A description of opportunities for stakeholder participation
  • A tentative schedule of public involvement activities planned throughout the study
