Welcome
Welcome to the
official website for the Access Highland project. Our focus is
the status of the current effort to improve access to I-70 for
the Highland region of Madison County, Illinois. This website
contains general project information, public involvement
opportunities, a location map and updates as the project
progresses.
The preliminary engineering study for the I-70 access
improvements near Highland is in its early stages. A recommended
alternative has been selected to prepare an Access Justification
Report that will be submitted to the Federal Highway
Administration (FHWA). The recommended alternative involves a
new interchange at IL Route 160 and improving the IL Route 160
corridor from North of I-70 to the roundabout. No final
decisions regarding planned improvements have been made.
We encourage your participation and feedback during this study.
