Proposed Improvements for Illinois Highways FY 2009 Introduction

The Fiscal Year 2009 Highway Improvement Program provides $1.950 billion of the
$10.875 billion included in the FY 2009-2014 Proposed Highway Improvement Program.
The FY 2009 program will be financed by an estimated $1.251 billion of federal funds,
$566 million of state funds and $133 million of local funds. Nearly $1.344 billion is for
projects on the state highway system and $606 million is for projects on local streets and
highway systems. A total of 897 miles of highways and 278 bridges will be improved or
constructed through the FY 2009 program. Safety and traffic improvements at 123
locations are scheduled.
