| Introduction
The Fiscal Year 2012 Highway Improvement Program provides
$2.905 billion of the
$11.525 billion included in the FY 2012-2017 Proposed Highway
Improvement Program.
In addition, included are projects totaling $199 million that
use appropriations
from previous fiscal years and are scheduled to be implemented
in FY 2012. As a
result, the FY 2012 Highway Improvement Program totals $3.104
billion.
The FY 2012 program is financed by an estimated $1.311 billion
of federal funds,
$1.661 billion of state funds and $132 million of local funds.
Nearly $2.443 billion
is for projects on the state highway system and $661 million is
for projects on
local streets and highway systems.
A total of 768 miles of highways and 248 bridges will be
improved or constructed
through the FY 2012 program. Safety and traffic improvements at
64 locations are
scheduled.
