RECURRING SPECIAL PROVISIONS
Standard
Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction
This book outlines the
general requirements and covenants applicable to all highway
construction improvements as well as provisions relating to materials,
equipment and construction requirements for individual items of work (as
defined in the book) on road and bridge construction projects awarded by
the Department. It is recommended that local agencies use this book for
their projects.
Highway Standards
These drawings show the
details of various construction items and are used in conjunction with
the Standard Specifications. The applicable Standards are referenced on
the cover sheet of the plans.
Local
Roads Recurring Special Provisions (LRSs)
Local
Roads Recurring Special Provisions are Recurring Special Provisions
issued for statewide use to cover the needs of local agencies when they
differ from those of the State. LRSs are printed with the Supplemental
Specifications and inserted into a contract proposal by using the Bureau
of Local Roads Check Sheet. The designer is responsible for placing an
“X” by the appropriate LRS for the project and including the check sheet
in the contract proposal.
CONTRACT SPECIAL PROVISIONS
Bureau of Design & Environment Special Provisions (BDESPs)

These special
provisions are issued by the Bureau of Design and
Environment four times a year. They are inserted into
contracts as they apply.
Local
Roads Special Provisions (LRs) & Special Details (LR SDs)

Local Roads
Special Provisions are Contract Provisions issued for
statewide local agency use. These special provisions are
written to cover the needs of local agencies when they
differ from those of the State. These special provisions are
designated with an LR before a number. The number references
the Section number of the Standard Specifications for Road
and Bridge Construction, for example: LR 109.
Local Roads Special Details
are designed to be used with recurring special provisions. These special
details are designated with a LR SD before a number. The number
references the check sheet item the special detail belongs with, for
example LR SD16.
Guide
Bridge Special Provisions (GBSPs)
Guide Bridge Special
Provisions are Contract Special Provisions issued for statewide use by
the Bureau of Bridges and Structures. The designer is responsible for
including the appropriate GBSPs into the proposal for each project.
Cross Reference, Check,
& Usage Sheets
Cross Reference Sheet - The Cross Reference Sheet gives
the disposition of the previous year's recurring, inserted,
and local roads special provisions.

The index sheet provides a listing of supplemental
specifications.

Check Sheet - The Check Sheet
contains a listing of Recurring Special Provisions. The check sheet
shall be placed in the contract documents with mandatory or desired
special provisions checked.

recurring, inserted, and local roads special provisions.
