The original bridge was built in the 1930's and
was later rehabilitated with metal bridge rails. In
the 1990's, a bridge deck replacement was warranted.
Design work was coordinated with several agencies,
including the Village of North Utica, the Illinois
Department of Natural Resources, and the Illinois
Historical Preservation Agency. As a result of this
collaboration, several design features were
incorporated (note the “period” concrete bridge
railing and the decorative wrought iron fence in
front of the La Salle County Historical Society
building). |
