  I & M CANAL NATIONAL CORRIDOR

The I&M Canal National Heritage Corridor is a part of the National Park System. It was established in 1984 to preserve the heritage of the 96-mile Illinois & Michigan Canal , a waterway that was used between 1848 and 1933 for transportation of people and goods between Chicago and La Salle , Illinois .
