IL 13/127 from Murphysboro to
Pinckneyville is a project to widen this
road from two to four lanes. There was
opposition to the original preferred alignment.
Due to this opposition, a Citizens Advisory
Council was formed from stakeholders. After
several meetings, the advisory council
recommended an alternate alignment which was
accepted by IDOT. The council worked well in
organizing the stakeholders, reaching a
consensus on a preferred alignment, and
obtaining support from the community.
