NOTICE TO PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS:
The following comments apply to the special provisions listed below beginning on
Page 38 of the above referenced contract:
CONDUIT IN TRENCH 4” DIA., PVC TYPE C – Page 38
CONDUIT ATTACHED TO STRUCTURE, 4” DIA., PVC TYPE C – Page 38
CONDUIT PUSHED 4” DIA., PVC SCHEDULE 80 – Page 39
CONDUIT ATTACHED TO STRUCTURE, 4” DIA., FIBERGLASS BULLET RESISTANT – Page 39
The Department will review and consider equivalent multi-cell conduit systems
submitted by the Contractor. If the Department approves the Contractor’s
submittal based on the material specifications and the multi-cell conduit system
is not already pre-approved for use by the Department, the Contractor is
required to provide a sample. This sample will be reviewed and tested by the
Bureau of Material and Physical Research. Per Article 106.01 of the Standard
Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, the Contractor cannot
incorporate this material in their work until approval is obtained from the
Engineer. The Contractor should allow 4 to 6 weeks lead time for material
testing.
