PRAIRIE PARKWAY CORRIDOR PROTECTION COMMENT PERIOD EXTENDED
OTTAWA, IL --The
Illinois Department of Transportation today announced it has
extended the public comment period to February 10' 2002 to allow
more time for additional citizen comment on the Prairie Parkway
corridor protection proposal.
A public hearing was
held on December 11' 2001 in Yorkville, Illinois. All comments
received by February 10, 2002 will become public record and part
of the hearing proceedings. "It is important for those persons
commenting to understand that no specific alignment for a road
has been proposed, nor have there been any detailed engineering
studies. The corridor protection process is to ensure that a
viable passageway for some future transportation facility is
protected to prevent disruption and substantial cost to the
taxpayers in the coming years," District Engineer James Jereb
said.
Comments are to be
submitted to Mr. James Jereb, District Engineer, Illinois
Department of Transportation, 700 East Norris Drive, Ottawa, IL
61350.
Any questions
relating to the proposed corridor protection or the public
comment period extension can be directed to Mr. Tom Sancken of
the IDOT, District 3 office at (815) 434-8423.
