Transportation provides these geographic data “as is”. IDOT
makes no guarantee or warranty concerning the accuracy of
information contained in the geographic data. IDOT further makes
no warranties, either expressed or implied as to any other
matter whatsoever, including, without limitation, the condition
of the product, or its fitness for any particular purpose. The
burden for determining fitness for use lies entirely with the
user. Although these data have been processed successfully on
computers at IDOT, no warranty, expressed or implied, is made by
IDOT regarding the use of these data on any other system, nor
does the fact of distribution constitute or imply any such
warranty.

shapefile format and will provide support for the integrity of
the data.
IDOT cannot provide support for software used for viewing and
analyzing the GIS data such as ESRI's
ArcView and
ArcExplorer (freeware), or any other GIS software. Please
contact the software company for support in using their GIS
products.

IDOT GIS Data Accuracy Disclaimer
IDOT roadway data was created as a linknode system in the
1980's, based on numerous topographic and geographic sources
resulting in locational inaccuracies. IDOT is currently
undertaking a process to realign our roads using the 1998 – 1999
Illinois Digital Ortho Quarter Quad (DOQQ) photos to increase
the accuracy of IDOT GIS data. This process will not be
completed until the end of 2005. The
realignment process has been completed for Districts 1, 2,
4, 5, 6 and 7. There could be approximately a 200 – 500 foot
offset in the accuracy of the data in the districts that have
not been realigned.
