| This spring, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will
be making improvements to the IL 7 Bridge, located in Lockport,
Illinois. These improvements will include patching and application of
new overlay to the entire bridge and will require closure of the bridge
until all improvements are completed.
Weather permitting, this construction is scheduled to begin May 5, 2008 and last until or about August 31, 2008.
IDOT has established two marked detour routes during the bridge closure, one for cars and one for trucks.
The detour for cars will be south via IL Rt. 171 and IL Rt. 53 through Joliet; the detour for trucks will be to the north, via IL Rt. 171 and IL Rt. 53 to 135th St.
Vehicles that are less than 13 feet, four inches in height will be able to use the detour for cars; vehicles more than 13 feet, four inches will be required to take the truck route.
