Introduction
The FY 2006-2009 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) is a
four-year program of highway and transit projects developed to fulfill the
requirements set forth in the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency
Act of 1991 (ISTEA) and its successor the Transportation Equity Act for
the 21st Century (TEA-21) and in the Safe Accountable Flexible & Efficient
Transportation Equity Act – Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU). The FY 2006-2009
STIP totals $15.66 billion with $7.1 billion for highway improvements and
$8.56 billion for transit capital improvements and operating assistance.
