PUBLIC ALTERNATIVES WORKSHOP NOTICE PUBLIC ALTERNATIVES WORKSHOP NOTICE PRAIRIE PARKWAY PRELIMINARY ENGINEERING STUDY

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will hold two public workshops to gather public input on possible transportation alternatives for the Prairie Parkway Study.

IDOT has scheduled two public alternatives workshops on June 16, 2004. As part of the release of the summary of the proposed purpose and need for the project and the next steps for advancing further studies, IDOT plans to define a wide range of potential alternatives, such as widening existing routes, new arterials, new freeways, and transit improvements that address the projected future transportation system deficiencies previously identified in the Transportation System Performance Report. The entire Transportation System Performance Report is available for viewing at www.prairie-parkway.com.

IDOT is seeking continued involvement from the public to aid in developing these potential alternatives. The public is invited to attend one of two alternatives workshops that will be held at:

Date: Wednesday, June 16, 2004
Time: 3:00-5:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Location: Beecher Community Center
908 Game Farm Road
Yorkville, Illinois 60560

During these workshops, community members will discuss and identify possible solutions for the study area’s existing and future transportation needs. Each workshop will begin with a presentation on the summary of the proposed purpose and need for the project and the approach for the identification and evaluation of alternatives. Participants will then be organized into small groups to discuss and identify potential alternatives.

The workshop site is accessible to persons with disabilities. Persons planning to attend the workshop needing a sign language interpreter or other special accommodations should notify the District Office at least three days prior to the meeting by telephone at 815-434-8435, or by Teletypewriter (TTY) at 815-434-6164.

For more information contact the Illinois Department of Transportation, 700 East Norris Drive, Ottawa, Illinois 61350, telephone 815-434-8435.
