OPEN HOUSE PUBLIC HEARING MEETING
FOR ILLINOIS 1/17 (RANGE STREET) FROM ILLINOIS 114 TO 0.32 MILE TO THE NORTH CORPORATE LIMITS OF MOMENCE

TUESDAY JUNE 22, 2004 4 PM TO 7 PM
TO BE HELD AT THE MOMENCE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL LOCATED AT 801 WEST SECOND STREET IN MOMENCE
(NO FORMAL PRESENTATION)

The Illinois Department of Transportation, District 3 office, will conduct an open house public hearing meeting regarding the proposed widening, resurfacing and improvements to illinois 1/17 (Range Street) in Momence. The project is to extend from the city’s north corporate limits and extend southerly 1.32 miles to illinois 114.

From the city’s north limits southerly to Third Street, route 1/17 will be widened and resurfaced to accommodate one 13’ wide through lane for each direction of traffic and one 12’ wide bi-directional turn lane. Between Third and Route 114, the existing roadway will be resurfaced and restriped resulting in one through traffic lane for each direction of traffic, turn lanes at intersections, and the retaining of most of the existing 7’ wide parking lanes. Left turn storage capacity and turning radii will be increased at the intersections with Second, Washington, and River Streets and at the junction of Route 114. The project includes construction of new curb and gutter, separation of storm and sanitary sewer, and increasing turning radii at all intersecting local streets. Eight parcels of additional right of way, totaling .043 acre, will be required. A permanent easement along the north side of Industrial drive for drainage purposes is also required.

IDOT personnel will be available to address questions and comments citizens may have about the project. Related exhibits, maps, and plans will also be available for public review. There will be no formal presentation.

Disabled persons planning to attend this meeting, who are in need of special accommodations, sign language interpreter or other similar assistance, should notify Mr. Ted Fultz. Write to the Iillinois Department of Transportation, 700 East Norris Drive, Ottawa, Illinois 61350 (fax 815/434-8553) or telephone 815/434-8469 (tdd number 815/434-6164) so reasonable accommodations can be made.
