WHITESIDE COUNTY, IL -- The Illinois Department of Transportation will hold an informational open house in Lyndon on August 21 to discuss the proposed improvement of Illinois 78.

The open house will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, at the Lyndon Progress Center gym, 501 6th Avenue West, in Lyndon. The public is invited to attend at any time during the meeting hours. There will be no formal presentation.

The purpose of the open house is to discuss plans for the improvement of IL 78 from north of Prophetstown to south of Interstate 88 and to receive public input on the proposal. The project would include resurfacing the highway from the Rock River Bridge north of Prophetstown to just south of I-88, and intersection improvements.

Maps and displays will be available for public review and IDOT personnel will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.

The meeting site is accessible to disabled individuals. Anyone needing special accommodations should contact Geoff Smith at the above phone numbers at least five days prior to the meeting.
