SPRINGFIELD, IL -- Construction is underway on US 67 for 3.7 miles of roadway between Jacksonville and Chapin as well as new construction one mile Northeast of Roodhouse and continuing northerly to approximately one mile South of Andress Road. This section is 5.35 miles.

US 67 is a 230 mile corridor from Alton to the Quad Cities and is an important north-south link in western Illinois . The This Illinois Department of Transportation 2004-2008 Highway Improvement Plan includes $192 million to continue the improvement and extension of US 67.

“This is an important transportation link for many people in west-central Illinois , “ stated Tim Martin, IDOT Secretary. “This will have a great economic impact on the region and serves as important transportation link to all of west central Illinois . ”

These sections are going to tie into an ongoing construction section of US 67 which connects to I-72 just South of Jacksonville .

Motorists are advised to slow down and drive with caution in the area. These portions of the project are expected to be completed by July 2006.
