VERMILION COUNTY, IL -- The Paris District Office of the Illinois Department of Transportation announces that work is scheduled for 9 miles of resurfacing on Interstate 74 from US 150 east to the Indiana state line in Vermilion County. The project includes milling and resurfacing of both lanes in each direction, and resurfacing the interchange ramps at "G" Street, Illinois 1, Bowman Avenue and Lynch Road at Danville. Other work includes upgrading the guardrail and safety related items.

The intent of the project is to improve the ride, upgrade safety features, and extend the service life of the pavement.

Work will begin March 17, 2003, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed in August 2003.

Motorists are cautioned that during the project I-74 from Mile Marker 210 to 220 will periodically be reduced to one-lane traffic. Motorists are cautioned to slow down and to be alert for workers and machinery.

Contractor for the $5.5 million project is University Construction, a Division of MACC of IL, Inc.
