VERMILION COUNTY, IL -- The Paris District Office of the
Illinois Department of Transportation announces that work is
scheduled for 9 miles of resurfacing on Interstate 74 from US
150 east to the Indiana state line in Vermilion County. The
project includes milling and resurfacing of both lanes in each
direction, and resurfacing the interchange ramps at "G" Street,
Illinois 1, Bowman Avenue and Lynch Road at Danville. Other work
includes upgrading the guardrail and safety related items.
The intent of the project is to improve the ride, upgrade
safety features, and extend the service life of the
pavement.
Work will begin March 17, 2003, weather permitting, and is
expected to be completed in August 2003.
Motorists are cautioned that during the project I-74 from
Mile Marker 210 to 220 will periodically be reduced to
one-lane traffic. Motorists are cautioned to slow down and
to be alert for workers and machinery.
Contractor for the $5.5 million project is University
Construction, a Division of MACC of IL, Inc.
