TRAFFIC CONGESTION ALERT
COOK COUNTY, IL -- On May 1, the $12.7 million project to reconstruct the
interchange of I-55 at the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) enters Stage II with the
six-week closure of the southbound I-55 ramp to northbound I-294.
This closure will continue through June 15 and is expected to have a
significant impact on traffic. Over 13,500 vehicles use this ramp each day.
Motorists will be directed to use southbound County Line Road to northbound I-55
to northbound I-294 as the detour route.
Overall, this project will replace and widen two bridges and reconstruct
five ramps. It is scheduled for completion by October 31.
For additional information regarding this project, including detour maps,
motorists may visit the IDOT web site at
http://www.dot.il.gov/i294/294home.html. Also, project brochures will be
available from the toll booth operators at the toll plaza for I-55 at I-294.
