Overnight Resurfacing of I-55 Begins May 1,
Project Expected to Last Only One Month

SCHAUMBURG,IL -- A project to resurface a section of I-55 in west suburban Cook County will get under way beginning Thursday night, May 1.

The work being done from County Line Road to Willow Springs Road is a small part of a larger project to improve I-55 that began last year. It was postponed until this spring because it would have conflicted with the then ongoing project to reconstruct the interchange of I-55 at I-294.

To limit the impact to motorists, the resurfacing project will be done during the overnight period. Lanes closures will begin no earlier than 8:00 PM. Lanes will re-open by 5:00 AM on weekdays and by 12 noon on weekends.

In addition, the ramps at County Line Road will be resurfaced. When a ramp is closed on a given night, motorists will be directed to use the remaining ramps at the interchange as the detour route.

The project is scheduled for completion in early June, weather permitting.
