SCHAUMBURG, IL --The ongoing project to improve
I-290 / IL 53 in the northwest suburbs reaches an important
milestone on July 23 as a traffic switch signals the start of the
reconstruction of the southbound lanes.
By the Wednesday morning rush period, weather permitting, all
traffic will be moved onto the northbound pavement. As has been the
case throughout the project, three lanes of traffic will be
maintained in each direction.
Motorists are reminded that the Higgins Road (IL 72) entrance ramp
to northbound I-290 / IL 53 will remain closed until the completion
of the project in late October
.
The overall $62.3 million project is rebuilding I-290 / IL 53 from
Thorndale Avenue to Golf Road (IL 58) in Itasca, Elk Grove, and
Schaumburg.
