COLLINSVILLE, IL, August 5, 2003 - The Illinois Department
of Transportation announces that between Tuesday, August 12,
2003, and Thursday, August 14, 2003, Chain of Rocks Road in
Mitchell, IL, will be closed to all vehicular traffic at the
Alton and Southern Railroad crossing.
The closure is necessary to reconstruct the railroad
crossing to provide for a safe, smooth crossing. Traffic
will be detoured over Interstate 270 to Illinois Route 111
or Illinois Route 203. Signing and traffic control will be
provided to guide motorists through the detour route. The
Department requests that motorists be patient and cautious
when traveling.
