SCHAUMBURG, IL -- During the early morning hours of Saturday, July 20, a
six-week night resurfacing project is expected to begin on the Kingery
Expressway (I-80/94) in the south suburban communities of South Holland and
Lansing.
The $1.9 million project involves patching, milling, and resurfacing
approximately three miles of the Kingery from I-94/IL 394 to the Indiana State
line. The work is scheduled for completion by August 29.
The project has been scheduled for the overnight hours when traffic volumes
are comparatively lower. Lane closures can be in effect weekdays between 9:00 PM
and 5:00 AM and can continue as late as 11:00 AM on the weekends.
Motorists in both Illinois and Indiana are advised to expect significant
delays. The use of alternate routes is strongly encouraged.
This work is designed as an interim repair project to keep the roadway
passable until a major reconstruction and add lanes project begins in the next
couple of years.
The contractor is Rieth-Riley Construction of Goshen, Indiana.
