The Illinois Safe Routes To School (SRTS) Program supports projects and programs that enable and encourage walking and bicycling to and from school. The program applies to schools serving grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. For more information on the program and its components, please view the links on the left side of the page. Key features of the Illinois SRTS Program include:

  • Projects are funded 80% Federal / 20% local match

  • Each project will require a separate application

  • A travel plan will not be required.

Important Dates:

  • October 31, 2013:  Applications will be accepted.

  • FEBRUARY 17, 2014 All applications are due.
