The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) annually publishes
detailed information about the 140,000 centerline miles in the State of
Illinois that are open to public travel. Information about the
centerline miles are collected by staff throughout the 9 IDOT
Administrative Districts.
The Illinois Highway and Street Mileage Statistics publication contains
information on the centerline miles totaled by IDOT District, county,
pavement type, functional class, and urban areas.
Within each IDOT District and County, information
is divided into tables by road system (State, Toll, County,
Township, Municipal) and totaled by:
- Pavement type and Jurisdiction
- Functional Class
