US 30 Environmental Impact Statement and
Phase I Design Report
Community Advisory Group
As dictated by the National Environment Policy Act (NEPA), and in conjunction
with the Illinois Department of Transportation, Context Sensitive Solution (CSS)
process, there will be numerous opportunities for the public to “GET
INVOLVED and STAY INVOLVED” through advisory groups,
public meetings and hearings, the speaker bureau, as well as other engaging
activities and interactive tools.
One of the key focus groups formed for this project will be a Community
Advisory Group (CAG). The CAG members consist of stakeholders that represent
residents, public officials, farmers, business leaders, environmentalist, and
special interest groups.
Throughout the design and planning phase of this project, CAG members will be
required to participate in a number of evening meetings that include
workshop-style exercises developed to solicit input and garner consensus from
members when managing community issues; addressing design/environmental and
technical issues; as well as defining proposed design alternatives during the
planning and design process. In addition to the Community Advisory Group
(CAG) meetings, there will be numerous regional stakeholder briefings with
policy and business leaders held to inform and gather input. Informal and
formal-style open house meetings and hearings are also scheduled to allow the
general public an opportunity to view and learn more about the project status;
provide input; and interact with the planning and design team as the project
progresses.
