US 30 Environmental Impact Statement and Phase I Design Report

Project Description

The project study area is in Whiteside County and extends from Fulton to Rock Falls. The western study limits are just west of the U.S. Route 30/IL Route 136 intersection and extends to the U.S. Route 30/IL Route 40 intersection in Rock Falls to the east. US Route 30 is currently being studied for improvements from Interstate 88 in Sterling through Morrison Street Illinois Route 136 in Fulton Illinois. This project will be a comprehensive study of the traffic, safety, and environment to develop alternatives for the improvement of existing US Route 30. Because of the importance of the US 30 project to these communities and Whiteside County, IDOT Deputy Director/Region Two Engineer George Ryan has designated this project for development using the principles of Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) (BDE PM 48-06, 3/1/06).
