US 30 Environmental Impact Statement and
Phase I Design Report
What is Next?
The US 30 project has moved to the Environmental Impact Statement and Design
Report phase that will involve the development of the US 30 Environmental Impact
Statement (EIS) that consists of an EIS Process based on NEPA
requirements. These requirements mandate that federal agencies prepare written
statements stating the environmental impacts of their proposed actions. In this
case, the proposed action is the construction of a new transportation system
within Whiteside County encompassing the vicinity of the US 30 corridor between
the towns of Fulton and Rock Falls. NEPA also ensures that IDOT fully discloses
the proposed transportation action to the public, and requires IDOT to provide a
mechanism for public input.
